The program

What each kind of event is

Three formats, each doing a different job. You do not need to attend all of them to get your money's worth.

Monthly Meeting

The business of the association

Ninety minutes on a fixed day each month. A short business session, a round of member introductions, then a guest speaker or a working discussion on something in front of the town. This is where the association decides what it is doing. Open to the public; prospective members are welcome to sit in before joining.

Business After Hours

An evening mixer, hosted inside a member's business

A long-standing format among business associations, and the one we expect to be worth the most to members. A member opens their doors after the working day — usually 5:30 to 7:30 — and puts out light refreshments. Everyone else turns up to talk.

There is no agenda, no head table, and nobody presents anything. The point is unhurried conversation with people you would otherwise only email. For the host it is rare advertising: a room of local owners standing inside your premises, seeing the work and meeting your staff. The association handles invitations and name tags; the host provides the room and the refreshments. Members who want to host one should tell the board.

Ribbon Cutting

Marking an opening or a milestone

For a new business, a move, an expansion, or an anniversary. The association turns out with members and, where they can attend, town officials, and makes sure there are photographs worth using. Free to members — ask the board as early as you can so it can be publicized properly.
